    It's a bug, because the feature is only meant to be applied to untrusted components. Trusted components (i.e. the OS) should be signed by a secret microsoft key to skip validation.

    yeah, 9 months till release.. i suspect this is known about and will be fixed.. comedic implementation though.. you have to allow *everything* the real solution is to work as a normal user and enable a 'god' user to login as to do the more hard-core stuff.

    i try downloading vista, it has like 500 seeders and 700 leechers, and im getting speeds of 0 to 1 kb/s, because of nat errors :( and ive even forwarded 6881 on my router and bittorrent still says i have an nat error. :(

    My days are clicking down. I need an activation key. I don't think 14 days is long enough, especially with the time I spent finding a video driver that got me past 4 bit color and a 5 inch screen! Does anyone have a cd key for the 5381 build. I could get Itunes to run, but Anapod Explorer will pick up my device in Manager, but won't communicate for the Explorer option which is the main point!

    If anyone could help me not lose my VIsta build. Also, how does one reseed in bitcomet? I don't know how to get the torrent back once I install it. Sorry, I'm a real newbie. ohhappychance@yahoo.com

    Hey - anyone who has a Product Key for Build 5381, i'd KILL for it! I have product keys for the CTP but it's not working for build 5381, and i just spent 5 days downloading it...

    None of those keys work on Vista Beta 2 build 5384. Vista says they are not valid keys and you are forced to type in another.

    For the original poster.

    In Windows Vista, it will always prompt you to run files, even while logged in as an administrator

    To DISABLE THIS, go to Start, and in the Run/Search box, type secpol.msc

    This will open up the Security box, click Security, and scroll all the way to the bottom, you will see items such as "Run all Administrators in Admin Approval Mode" The last 7 items in the list need to be switched to Disabled.

    This will stop Windows from asking you if you want to run every little thing. This is helpful though, if a virus gets installed, as it will not have permission to do anything to the computer without your knowledge. So be careful on how you use the secpol.msc to change the security settings

    PVYFQ-2JTBV-9KXQ2-FQHDY-MTBVH is not a "working" activation key. It simply gets you through the installation. If anybody has a REAL working key, please tell us.

    Oh and don't give me that crap that there aren't any keys that allow you to activate more than once. BECAUSE I USED ONE FOR 5308!!!

    (I don't mean to sound mean, or anything... I just have spent my entire day looking for a key and I am just a little irritable.)

    When I installed 5365, you could simply deactivate the activation program, so it stopped asking. I can't remember exactly how, but I think it was in msconfig. Just google it and you should find out how.

    Hey everyone its Ash again. I HAVE SOME GOOD NEWS FOR YA ALL. lol. You can download vista beta 2 off of the windows vista site foe free or you can order a copy of it and they give you a product key which is valid, so you can activate it :) (www.microsoft.com/vista) and then its pretty strait forward. You can have either version aswell 32 or 64 bit :) Happing computing peeps, i also have a crack which i found that works. If you want it please jus ask ashleywhitear@hotmail.com.     MS has closed the vista evaluation program, and does not provide any more activation keys. Does this time bomb reset work on Windows Vista Build - 5384 ? and do you actually see the remaining days jump back to 14

    --------- IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR PEOPLE WHO DOWNLOADED WINDOWS VISTA BETA 2 BUILD 5384.4 -----------------------

    1. This readme is about what I have experienced, I am trying to help people enjoy vista as much as I do and as much as Microsoft allows us to.

    2. This is a step by step guide, so even noobs can print it out and follow it to the letter.

    3. The downloads will probably be blocked soon (either vista or the timebomb hack so act quickly) Microsoft doesn't hand out activation codes anymore cause they have closed the evaluation subscriptions and no activation keys are sent by mail anymore.

    4. Get windows vista here (about 20 mins download 3.2 gig from our friends at Microsoft) Note : It is a client version

    For 32 bit click here:

    Windows Vista Beta 2, English 32-Bit Edition

    For 64 bit click here

    Windows Vista Beta 2, English 64-Bit Edition

    5. Burn it onto a DVD with Nero, Easy Cd Creator, or your favorite Cd burn software: Personally I used K3B on Fedora Core 4 Linux at a speed of 4x to have a quality, CRC-error free iso. At last Microsoft used an ISO image, so linux users can burn it onto a DVD without having to convert it to ISO format first - that's marketing baby -

    6. Insert it into your DVD player and reboot the PC

    7. Follow on screen directions and while it installs go play on your x-box, walk your dog, take a piss, put the kettle on, watch the champion's league scores etc...

    8. When it's installed you have a non activated Windows Vista beta 2 release that you can enjoy for 14 days. Jeez... that's really enough time to evaluate it isn't it ???? NOOOOOT !

    9. Bear with me: create a .bat file to make the timebomb yourself:

    - create a new .txt file on your desktop and name it MyVistaTimebombCracker or something similar
    - Open that text file and copy the code BELOW the asteriscs into the file:

    @echo This is an application which will #reset# the timebomb for 5381.1
    @echo by v1c
    @echo who found this trick? cw2k
    @echo greetz: winxperts.net , antiwpa.org.ru and Levi
    @echo press any key to reset..
    @pause
    rundll32 slc.dll,SLReArmWindows
    cls
    @pause ok, it's done.
    ****************************************************************************
    Note: only the lines without @echo are important and do the actual hack, but let's have a little respect for the peeps who made this so copy it all.

    - save the file as MyVistaTimebombCracker.bat
    - (IMPORTANT) Right Click (NO NO NO not just CLICK, RIGHT CLICK your file and select the option - Run as administrator -
    - Follow the directions in the dos window

    That's it !!!

    - How can you see that this actually worked ?

    - Goto Control panel -> system
    at the bottom you will see windows activation and the time left.
    after you have executed the hack, reboot and you will see that it went back to 14 days.

    Enjoy Windows Vista beta 2 (at least till july 07 2007)

    Another thing I tried - DO NOT TRY IT , IT does'nt work, at least not in vista Beta 2 build 5384.4 ----

    REPEAT - DOES NOT WORK -

    Disabling the 2 services responsible for the time bomb with msconfig

    - SL UI notification service
    - Software Licensing
    if you try it you can always restart the services and everything will be set back to normal

    It disables the control panel (opens the panel, which is empty, like in "No Icons show", and closes panel automatically after 10 secs or so)

    I'm running version 5384.4 and created the batch file described above. I ran the batch file and all wne fine. I go to the Welcome Center to see how many days left for activations and I get "This Machine is Unlicensed." My question is, what does this mean? Does it mean I don't have to activate windows anymore? Or is this a bad thing?

    guys your all here requesting cracks and activation resets and such and to be honest with you all if you do a little googling youll find what your looking for, i know of atleast 3 working cracks out there, me and joe made a reset.bat a while back worked for 5308 upwards uptill around a week ago i belive it stopped working (im assunming from the ammount of emails i was sent) so i dont intend on making another as theres quiet a few out there, as for the serial that start pvyfq-blah-blah that wont ACTIVATE vista itll just let you install it and try it for 14 days :) you guys could quiet easily activate vista if you had of been sooner at getting in the beta2 programme :) which only closed around 2 weeks ago :) also i heard another way of activating vista is to ring ms themselves and theyll activate ot for you, jusyt warm up the bullshit factor before riging :)

    well,i think i have got a different problem down here

    i upgraded my media center 2005 to vista beta 2

    everthing was fine

    but while logging on to vista beta 2 it says its expired ...

    but actually i even didnt use it for 1 day or second

    error says my component windows is not licensed

    anyone plz help me !

    did a fresh install of VISTA BETA1 entered serial number and install started right away.

    when install was finished it allowed me to finish set up such as: time zone, username and password.

    VISTA restarts and goes to log on page. i use my username and right away it says evaluation period has ended, then requires me to enter activation code.


    what am i doing wrong??

    All of the activation cracks are no longer working...they do not reset me back to 14 days again...anyone have any info on this or can anyone send me something to help? I only have 4 days left...then i'm outta luck.

    Hey I have Windows Vista Beta Build 5472 and the reset patch is no longer working. I am only given 3 days everytime I re-install. If anyone knows of a working patch or crack or can actually make one then post it please or at least put it up as a torrent or on limewire. I know I'm not the only one with this problem so there must be someone looking for the same thing I am just look at Rolly's post above mine he is screwd too lol!

    Im from Australia and i downloaded the Vista Beta 2 Build 5384 from Microsoft but i lost my product key to install Vista with, so i got a key off the internet but when i tried to activate it didnt work, can someone please give me a working hack or key or skip or something please that will cancel the activation or reset it?     For those of you that keep asking for the activation code or a working serial. Your not going to find it. The activation code is different each time and only works a few times for each serial which is limited. So I suggest stop asking, it's pointless and redundant. As for the bat file that had all that information and a few pauses in it. Delete all that

    Just put

    ******
    rundll32 slc.dll,SLReArmWindows
    cls
    ******

    in a bat file with no axtrix and set it to run on startup to reset your time daily.

    QFT. You need not to be an idiot when doing that though, and it seems there's a lot of them looking at this page.     Hey yet again peeps! Sorry i havnt got back to all of you emails, you may remember me sayin there were complaints received so i cud not publish the crack i did hold at one point but bollacks to that, that was that crack now i have a new one for you all!! I call it and myself the 'Vista Christmas Crack-er' as i have a crack which have been proven to work! This cracks the activation (key and instuctions enclosed) Now i have a version which is not banned as it were, you can all email me on ashleywhitear@hotmail.com and you will receive an email back within a few days of you mailing me.     Microsoft Windows Vista.iso not sure what build a working product key for 180days activation. So i have plenty of time to find a crack. Only problem after i install vista i get an error message. probably because i burnt the CD (yes guys its a CD version) at the fastest time possible. I am going to burn a copy of it at a lower speed and see if it works any better......

    OK i have a problem with Badongo.com and Vista! IT WONT OPEN IT! My firewall isnt blocking it and it works fine on my comp with XP, but I dont have access to it all the time and i need to get stuff off that site and its the only one it BLOCKS, well it doesnt block it just wont go through. SO i downloaded firefox...STILL WONT LET ME GO on it! and ive tried the AOL brouser I have no clue y it wont work for me plz omeone help me
