  • I have had a similar issue. As I recall, Thunderbird passes the URL to the operating system so that it will open the right browser, so it is very possible that windows is the hold up.

My workaround is to right click and copy the URL location, then go into my browser and paste it into a tab.

I've also noticed that on my Mac I don't have this issue, but on my PC I do.
  • I've been looking for answer to this also. I'm not sure if this is a good answer, but I think this may simply be a sign that the computer needs to be restarted. Reading what the previous poster said about the link being passed off to the OS is pretty good sign that this OS is the problem. Even an OS as reliable as XP should be restarted at least once a day. That has been my experience anyway. But I believe I have had other experiences, such as with Live Messenger that seemed to more persistent than a simple restart problem with OS, so take it for what it's worth.
  • This is an old post but I still have this problem with FF2/Thunderbird2. Nobody has come up with a solution yet?
