Generating links is like getting on digg... putting your content in front of the eyes of other bloggers that may want to post about it and link to your site. Don't get too excited about what Mr. Gonda said. Just a few links on technorati gets you from out of the sandbox, but it gets progressively harder to rank up. You won't be jumping 80,000 spots again.

For example, a top 100 blog on technorati has around 2300 unique links.

Can you be more specific. I'm receiving about fifty visits a day and want to increase that number to 100. Can you more specific about generating links? That seems rather interesting.

Technorati is nice, but you can massively improve your rankings by generating links back to your site and ping'ing them ... I jumped 80,000 positions in my ranking the first week I had my blog up.

Kudos Elliott! I've been trailing you for a long time. Great fun. Maybe you might want to start focusing on the Technorati race. I am ranked around 620 there and have my eyes on attaining a Top 100 spot by next year. =D
